Killing two birds with one stone

So I am in Johnson City with some time to kill.... I decide to stop in at Gander mountain to see if by chance or (divine appointment) An old, old friend Fred Elliott is working. I walked all through the "Walmart of outdoor sports" and saw no sign of him. As I was about to leave in walks Fred obviously on lunch break because he was walking 100mph towards the back so as not to be stopped by a pesky customer while on break. I waited for a while by the back for him to emerge again, finally another employee came out and I asked him to get Fred and not tell him who was looking for him. Fred came out and I asked for a bb gun to shoot starlings. He thought that I was serious and didn't realise who I was. As I waited for Fred to sign back on the clock I noticed another young, old employee of mine standing there. Nathan Kie (he recognized me right away). I had a wonderful time visiting with Nathan and Fred, we realised that some things never change. It is great seeing old friends.

On the road again.

I had a pretty good week last week albeit a hot one. I was in Louisiana building a climbing tower for Signature research Inc. I went from 30 deg at home to 91 deg and humid on Monday. My body took a few days to adjust. Mmmmm the food was good though crawfish, froglegs, catfish, grits, fried ocra, bisquits and sausage gravy......crawdads are the chicken wings of the south!
God provided another $100 per month in promised support!
Today I leave for Western NY, have a meeting, then down to Mike and Sue's motel for the night. Tues I do an inspection for a camp in SW NY, and find a campsite for the night. Wed I head over to our old home in Little Meadows and spend the night at my former youth leader Howie's house. Thursday I plan on stopping at Baptist Bible College and visiting some guys there, not sure where I'll sleep that night. Friday and Saturday I'll be in West Virginia for a rock climbing renezvous. Sunday I plan on heading to Maryland to visit our mid-atlantic chapter coordinator. Monday I head home via the Gunks in New Paltz.
I need to stop typing this and finish getting ready. Pray for continued provision and open doors of opportunity.

Great day yesterday family rock climbing outing with friends

Yesterday the 7 Parises met up with Climbing for Christ members Matt Hagar and Steve Merganthaler for four hours of beginner rock climbing. Merg is a register rock guide, not a beginner, but he set up our anchors and handled belay/instructional duties. Here are a couple of photos with more on my flickr to the right.
I can't seem to get any pictures to load so I guess you will just have to check them out on my Flickr.

A glimpse of the summit through the trees

I love hiking through the valleys and getting to a spot where there is an opening in the trees or a little knoll or something where you can catch a glimpse of the goal, the summit, a little reminder of why you are suffering in the valley. God gave me a glimpse of the summit today. This morning there was a small envelope stuck in our front door with a note and a $100 dollar bill. The note simply said:
Ps. 73:23-26
Jesus loves you all & cares about all that concerns you.

love, His servant

Thanks. I needed that glimpse of the summit.
Also thanks to Mike for the music suggestion, Valley of vision stuff is awesome! I'm listening to it it now as I type.

Yesterday I was over in NH doing an inspection for the Monadnock Bible conference. What a great day. After I finished I drove north to Rumney to check out a climbing area. Within a mile or two of the climbing area is a Baptist church. Please pray with me about the possibilities of partnering with that church to reach that climbing community with the good news of Jesus.

I just got back from the post office -another $200 in the mail!!! A few more smooth stones for my pouch.
